Ferdows, formerly called Toun, is one of the ancient cities of Khorasan. It is being located beside salt desert and now the desert of Plond in Mozaffari Protected Area (MPA) a magical desert which has a marvelous whisper of silence. Its habitant (local people) are speaking Farsi, the structure of the language they speak is Samanid. Ismailids, whose matron was Hassan Sabah during Seljuk dynasty, entered to the region at that time.

There are many attractions through this city, which is 1275 meter above sea level. Madras or religious school of Oliya, Safavid period, that is octagonal and includes four Ivans, is one of highlights of the city.
Friday mosque of Ferdows is almost 900 years old. Its material, plan and design talk of Seljuk period. There are two porticos for being used during winter and summer.

Another highlight of Ferdows is its anthropological museum located in a bath called Khirouz. Like almost all traditional bathes it has been built underground.
